A GREENOCK teenager is facing a sheriff court trial charged with severely injuring an alleged assault victim.

Eighteen-year-old Josh Ellis is accused of repeatedly punching and kneeing the male complainer on the head during an alleged attack on April 13 this year at Dalrymple Street.

Ellis, represented by solicitor Aidan Gallagher, was absent from a hearing on Friday as a not guilty plea was submitted on his behalf.

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan continued the case to a trial on October 23.
