Only the SNP are in a position to win Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West and represent Scotland unfettered by UK intervention.
With Sir Keir Starmer’s UK Labour Party about to form the UK Government with a huge majority in England - the same voters that voted to leave the EU - we need Scotland’s voice to be heard. We need Scottish values to be represented.
I have worked tirelessly for nine years to support the people of Inverclyde.
I have represented over 15,000 cases where people have come to me feeling unjustly treated by the system.
My office has recouped over £120,000 in the last 14 months for constituents.
The role I got to fulfil as the local MP is incredibly important to me and creating better outcomes for people, many of whom are at the end of their tether, is one of the best aspects of the job.
I firmly believe that Scotland and therefore Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West can flourish and that an independent nation would be better placed to make the changes that are required.
It won’t be a land of milk and honey, it will take a great deal of hard work and determination but small Northern European nations have a very good track record of creating success.
Scotland will only get the opportunity to claim its independence if we don’t back down.
The last thing Keir Starmer wants is a strong SNP representation at Westminster.
That’s because he knows that will inevitably lead to him having to face the independence question and he is in denial.
We have to keep knocking at the door and it will either open or be broken down.
Now is not the time to take a step backward, if we do, we risk losing everything we have gained.
The Greenock Telegraph has invited General Election candidates standing to represent Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West to share their views on key topics relevant to the area.
Today is their final column and the candidates' last chance to tell voters why they should vote for them.
Polls open for the UK General Election at 7am on Thursday, July 4.
