A ‘HIGHLY anticipated’ sailing event is set to return to the Inverclyde this weekend.
Clyde One Design Regatta will be held at Royal Gourock Yacht Club on Saturday.
The event is described as a highlight of the sailing calendar, attracting top sailors and enthusiasts from various classes, including Etchells, Pipers, Loch Longs and Flying Fifteens.
The regatta returned to the Clyde last year after an absence of almost two decades.
Around 30 entries look set to take part in competitive inshore racing at this year’s event, which is being sponsored by Glaschu Spirits Co – an independent bottler known for its carefully curated selection of single cask whisky.
Regatta chairman Duncan Munro said: “Duncan Munro, Regatta Chairman has said: "The organising committee is hugely appreciative of Glaschu Spirit Co’s generous commitment, which is vital to ensuring the event's success and will go a long way towards growing the event for future seasons.
“This announcement will boost the already high buzz of excitement around the event.
“We look forward to working in close partnership with Glaschu Spirits Co and the Royal Gourock Yacht Club to deliver another memorable Clyde One Design Regatta.”
Julian Mithoff, director at Glashcu Spirits, added: “We are delighted to sponsor the Clyde One Design Regatta.
“The event provides a real opportunity for the classes to demonstrate the attributes that have seen them grow in numbers in recent years, and we are looking forward to being a part of it.”
The regatta has received sponsorship, donations and ‘untiring support’ from James Watt Dock Marina, MarineBlast, Saturn Sails, McCaskie Butchers and Café, Holy Loch Sailing Club, Cove Sailing Club and Royal Western Yacht Club.
