YOUNGSTERS at a Greenock nursery made a splash as they brought the curtain down on another fantastic term with two outdoor pool parties.

Children and staff at Glenbrae Children’s Centre played with water guns, paddled in pools and were treated to ice creams as part of the two events.

It came just a week after the nursery said farewell to 22 of its little ones, who are set to move on to primary school later this year.

Glenbrae Children’s Centre head Craig Scott said: “The last couple of weeks have been about celebrating this year and all the hard work the children have put in and the learning, the fun and the progress they’ve made.

“The idea to have a pool party came from the children and we used money they raised in May to help to fund these end of term events.

“That meant we were lucky enough to have the ice cream van come up today so every child got an ice cream.

“They’ve had a ball, the sun wasn’t out but we’re in the west of Scotland so we just decided to get out and get on with it.

“It’s been great fun and a lovely way to end the year."

Craig told the Tele the nursery’s recent graduation ceremony had been a huge success, with departing children and their parents being joined by their peers and a group of residents from the nearby Kincaid House care home.

He added: “The staff put so much effort into it and it was just a fabulous day. .

“It was a brilliant occasion and we had real engagement and support from the parents.

“They all participated really well and were presented with their end of terms books, certificates and a board for going to school that they can do their homework on.

“Again, it was all about celebrating the achievements and successes that the children have had throughout the year.

“We couldn’t have done all this without the support of the staff, the parents and Auchmountain Halls.

“As well as the parents and carers we invited along 10 residents from Kincaid House and they had a brilliant time, that’s something we’re looking to do more of going forward.

“We’ll miss all the kids and the families that are going to school but they all know that once they’re part of the Glenbrae family they’re always welcome.”
