A NUMBER of Inverclyde train journeys were cancelled this morning due to a shortage of crew.

There was widespread disruption across the ScotRail network yesterday, with around a quarter of all services believed to be cancelled.

The rail operator said this was due to fewer drivers than usual being available to work overtime or rest days.

Last week, train drivers’ union Aslef told ScotRail it was considering balloting for industrial action as a pay row continues.

The 11:27am train from Wemyss Bay to Glasgow Central was also cancelled.

There are so far a total of 70 cancellations across the network today, but no further disruption is expected in Inverclyde.
