A GROUP of Greenock students recently combined learning and fundraising as they took on an Apprentice-style task.
Members of West College Scotland’s Certificate for Work Readiness course were challenged to create a product to sell at a Halloween event at Xcite.
Given a strict budget to follow, the students were tasked with considering the target market and a suitable cost.
They sold hot chocolate cones and spooky sweet cones at the event, raising £110 for Ardgowan Hospice in the process.
Mhairi Powell, employability advisor at West College Scotland, said: “Every student did brilliantly and the customers of Xcite responded really positively to the challenge, leaving us with only a few sweet cones which we went on to sell to students and staff in the college.
“We love having the opportunity to work with employers in the local community, and to be able to do it to raise money for such a worthwhile cause was a hugely positive experience for us all.”
