INVERCLYDE and Renfrewshire West's newly elected MP joined his party colleagues at Downing Street this morning to meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Martin McCluskey, who was elected as the area's Westminster representatives at last week's general election, was one of 37 Scottish Labour MPs who visited number 10 before being sworn in.

He said: “This morning along with other Scottish Labour MPs I met with the Prime Minister at Downing Street.

"Keir Starmer and Anas Sarwar promised during the election campaign that Scottish Labour MPs would be at the heart of this Labour Government.

"I’m glad that we’ve had the chance to meet with the Prime Minister in our second day in Westminster and he was clear with us that his job and our job is now to work with the government to deliver for our constituents.”
