INVERCLYDE’S new MP has officially been sworn in at the House of Commons.
Martin McCluskey was elected as representative for the Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West constituency following last week’s general election.
He recorded a majority of more than 6,000 to topple former MP Ronnie Cowan, who held the position for nine years.
Mr McCluskey took the oath at Westminster this afternoon, along with several of his Scottish Labour colleagues.
A total of 335 new MPs will be inducted into the House of Commons this week – the largest number in modern history.
It is anticipated that the process will be completed on Thursday.
