FOUR fantastic mums are using their fundraising super powers to send children from Inverclyde on holiday this summer.

The award winning FUNdraising Inverclyde team stepped into help Children in Poverty Inverclyde by donating more than £1,600.

They used their magic to turn Taylor Swift tickets into a huge fundraiser for the much loved charity which has sent hundreds of children from Inverclyde on holiday for the last ten years.

Best friends Laura McCafferty, Stacey Windmill, Heather Mitchell and Julie Scott have formed an unbeatable bond setting up a Facebook fundraising page that has so far raised an astonishing half-a-million pounds.

But now the team, recently crowned Tele Community Champion winners, have not stopped there and recently organised a successful fun day raising £8,000.

Laura, 37, who lives in Greenock, said: "Children in Poverty Inverclyde is a cause so close to our hearts because we know there are so many families out there struggling and we want to do as much as we can to help.

"We love the idea that families can go on holiday. We raffled Taylor Swift tickets, it was massive and just snowballed. We could have sold them a thousand times over!

"Helping local good causes is so important to us, we are all mums and we want to help. I can't believe the impact our page has had. It is something that we are all so proud of it. It went from strength to strength during Covid."

Both Laura and Stacey set up the group with friend Heather Mitchell coming on board.

Mum Julie Scott started playing on the FUNdraising Inverclyde Facebook page and was blown away by it.

She said: "I thought it was incredible and I ended up on board. It is one of my greatest achievements to be involved in this."

The group recently organised a hugely successfull fun day at Greenock Cricket Club, raising more than £8,000 for good causes.

Their list of charity fundraising is impressive, raising money for many, many groups, including Scottish Autism.

Children in Poverty Inverclyde's chairman Pat Burke was moved by the kindhearted donation.

He said: "It is a magnficent donation and is greatly welcomed by our charity. It is hugely pivotal to what we do for children and their parents who are in difficult times financially and mentally.

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all members of the group who contributed to this wonderful total."

Children in Poverty Inverclyde was set up ten years ago and has helped thousands of local families providing holidays, activities and much needed support.
