A POPULAR BBC Scotland series following crews on board CalMac ferries will return for its second season next week.

Island Crossings will be back on screens on July 21 for an eight-part series which will air weekly at 9pm.

The fly-on-the-wall documentary’s first series followed the Gourock-based firm’s staff and passengers, demonstrating how its services underpin much of life in Scotland’s west coast communities.

The ferry operator says the upcoming episodes – produced by IWC Media – will offer ‘unprecedented access to CalMac’s people and to the places we serve’.
