A MAN accused of subjecting his former partner to violent abuse and threatening to kill her is due to stand trial before a jury at Greenock Sheriff Court next month.

Graeme Anderson, 32, is charged with engaging in a course of conduct which was abusive of the woman at an address in the town and elsewhere.

The incidents are said to have taken place over the course of nine days from September 17 and September 25, 2021.

The charge against Anderson alleges he ‘repeatedly threatened to kill’ the complainer during this period.

Prosecutors say he acted in an aggressive and controlling manner towards the woman, shouting and swearing towards her and uttering threats to harm her.

He is further accused of repeatedly punching her on the head and body, as well as striking her on the head with an iron and pushing her.

The Crown claims Anderson placed his hands around the woman’s neck and restricted her breathing.

The charge also alleges that he seized her by her head and body and repeatedly struck her head against the floor.
