A COMMUNITY football project is going into extra time to help give families across Inverclyde a break this summer.
Morton in the Community Trust have a number of initiatives lined up through the holidays, including a week of football funded by the SFA.
As part of the Extra Time project the coaching team are going on tour around the area to run multi-sports with other activities including science, engineering and tech games.
This is on top of the series of their own camps that they run every week throughout the school break.
At the same time the trust is continuing with their 'More than Football' ethos by setting up an exchange stall where youngsters can get their hands on football boots and their favourite club's strips.
Data and impact cordinator Lewis McEwan, who is running all the camps, said: "We want to give youngsters as many opporunities as we can to play football and meet their friends.
"We run the Extra Time programme throughout the year and in the last week of the holidays we are opening it up to everyone."
Morton in the Community run dozens of initiatives in Inverclyde for all ages including Team Talk for mental health, a disability cafe and much more.
Leading those projects is John McGowan who was at the summer camps with the Boots and Pieces shop.
Young people coming along to camp can swap strips and boots they have grown out of for some other favourites.
John said: "It is something we have run in the past and we wanted to push again. It is great because boots are really expensive and they grow out of them so fast.
"We have so much going on with the Extra Time camps, which will also include our STEM project."
Morton in the Community's football micro and mini camps for school children will continue to run, with the last week starting Monday August 5.
There is also a girls only football camp on Monday July 29 from 2pm to 4pm at Clydeview Academy.
Then on Monday August 12 the Extra Time programme kicks off at Notre Dame, then on Tuesday they move to the Port Glasgow Campus, and on Wednesday it is Clydeview and then back to Notre Dame.
The SFA funded camps are open to all from 10am until 1pm.
