ARDGOWAN Hospice is inviting members of the old Greenock Methodist Church’s congregation to a celebration event before the building is demolished.

The hospice is due to begin work on the site in August, but said it is aware of the memories it will hold for many.

The decision was taken demolish the building due to health and safety concerns affecting the public and neighbouring residents.

People are now being encouraged to attend an afternoon tea where a video of the church will be shown and stories shared of its history.

Hospice CEO Graham Gardiner said: “As we prepare for the demolition of the Greenock Methodist Church, we understand the profound connection many in our community have with this historic building.

“It has been a place of worship, celebration, and remembrance for generations, and we acknowledge the memories it holds.

"In recognition of its significance, we invite any former members of the congregation to join us for a special event being held at our Access Building.

"This occasion is a time to reflect, share stories, and give thanks for the church's impact on our lives.

"Your presence would mean a great deal to us as we honour the legacy of the Greenock Methodist Church."

The event will be held at Ardgowan Hospice’s Access Building on July 24 at 4pm.

Those who wish to attend are asked to contact karen@ardgowanhospice.org.
