CARING kids are following in the footsteps of their marvellous mums who have raised more than £500,000 for good causes.

FUNdraising Inverclyde, who are fresh from a hugely successful event at Greenock Cricket Club giving an incredible £8,000 to good causes, also donated £1,600 for Children in Poverty Inverclyde.

The mums were also recognised at the Telegraph's community champions awards.

The fab four are Laura McCafferty, Stacey Windmill, Julie Scott and Heather Mitchell and now their children are stepping up to be the next generation of community champions.

Laura, 37, of Tasker Street, said: "We've been fundraising for quite some time now. The kids see us running bonus balls, raffles and bingo and they are always wanted to help when we're running stalls or dress up as characters. So now they want to do their own charity events."

The top 'mini-me' team ranges from age three to 14.

Julie's son Kyle McCairn, 12, is desperate to hold a balloon pop. The women usually hold it in one of their houses with around 50 balloons but it has proved so popular they will have to hire a hall, as they have sold 175 balloons.

Everyone is getting in the act, Julie's daughter Hailey MacLeod, 6, is teaming up with Laura's wee girl Niamh McAllister to be bingo callers at a kids prize bingo.

Everyone is also getting in a super sponsored walk, run or cycle at Battery Park at 12noon on July 31.

The kids all have their own charities they want to support, Niamh wants to help the Children's Hospice who helped her when she was a baby.

Julie, 36, said: "Hailey wants to help homeless people and stray animals."

Stacey said: "My son Riley wants to support the hospice as he received support from the Butterfly Project when a family member passed away.

"They take after their mums!"

Laura said: "We are so proud of them all."

The teeny team with big ambitions are Callum McCairn,14, his brother Kyle, 12, Riley Windmill, 11, Niamh McAllister, Hailey MacLeod, Calan Windmill, 7, and his sister Daisey, who is only three.
