POLICE officers carried out door-to-door enquiries in the Albert Road area of Gourock today.
Several police vehicles were observed racing through Greenock towards Gourock at around 1pm.
Eyewitnesses said four vehicles headed for Albert Road and were parked there for some time.
Officers spent time knocking on doors and speaking to residents.
The Telegraph has contacted Police Scotland about the nature of the incident but has not yet received a response.
