MAN On Inverclyde a gearing up for an evening of glitz and glamour as they prepare to host their first ever black-tie fundraising ball.

The mental health charity will be taking over Greenock Town Hall on October 11 to run a fabulous fundraiser which bosses hope will be the first of many.

The event has been arranged to coincide with World Mental Health Day, which takes place the day before on October 10.

Man On Inverclyde’s business operations lead Stacey Caldwell told the Telegraph she couldn’t wait for the donation drive.

She said: “October 10 is World Mental Health Day, and we thought it would be quite nice to tie everything in with that.

“We’ve managed to secure the Safer group as our overall sponsor for the event who have very kindly agreed to sponsor the event on the night and we’re currently looking for table sponsors.

“On the night we’ll showcase our good work over the last year and show where all the money goes from our community fundraising and how it’s spent.

“It’s so important for us to get that community fundraising because we’re not government funded so we rely heavily on community support and funding bids.

“We’re really looking forward to it, it’s going to be a huge event and it’s probably the biggest thing I’ve ever had to do.”

Stacey said organising the fundraiser had been a big undertaking for the Man On team, but praised the hard work put in by her colleagues James Crawford and Kaci Reid.

She added: “This is a big step forward for Man On, we’ve done fundraisers in the past but not of this scale.

“There’ll be a lot of blood, sweat and tears between now and the event and hopefully it’s the first of many.

“We want it to be a big annual event.

“It’s going to be a lot of planning for Kaci, James and I but hopefully on the night we can still enjoy it, we might be running about with a glass in hand.”
