The Waverley sailing due to leave the Greenock this morning is cancelled due to a breakdown.
She is now docked in Glasgow with work underway on the iconic paddle steamer after a fault was found in the steam winches last night.
The Waverley was due to arrive at the Custom House Quay to take day trippers, including children from a local playscheme, on a sailing.
Operators have apologised for the short notice as repairs are carried out to get her back in action as soon as possible.
A Waverley Excursions spokesperson said: "We sincerely apologise for the late cancellation of this sailing and the inconvenience this will cause.
"Passengers with pre-booked tickets have been informed. Tickets can be transferred to any other sailing or a refund can be made."
The Waverley is the oldest sea going paddle steamer in the world and is owned by the charity Waverley Steam Navigation Co.
