A CHARITY football match and fun day has helped raise vital funds in memory of a much loved Greenock dad.
The family and friends of Joe Cooke, who tragically died at only 42 years old last year, came together to remember him at the special event in the Lady Octavia Sports Centre.
Hundreds turned up on the day to support the teams taking part in the tournament.
Since his death his loved ones have raised thousands of pounds in his memory for good causes including the renal unit.
One of the organisers, Neil Rankin, a lifelong friend, said: "It was a brilliant day and we want to thank everyone who came along to support Joe's wife Dawn and the family.
"It was a fantastic turnout."
We told earlier this year how Joe's wife and his family were organising fundraisers in his name.
Dad-of-two Joe died on May 10 last year after suffering an aneurysm and a cardiac arrest brought on by undiagnosed polycystic kidney disease.
Since then his loved ones have organised a number of fundraisers.
At Lady Octavia Sports Centre his close friends including Stephen Henry, Terry Stinson and Terry Stinson Snr organised the football match.
There were also fun activities, bouncy castles and stalls for all the family.
In total, 16 teams took part with the winning team Willareal, with joint captain Jamie Strachan, also one Joe's lifelong friends. Stuart Morton also captained the side.
