A GREENOCK man has been fined and banned from driving after he admitted getting behind the wheel while over the legal limit for cannabis.
Christopher Munro, 37, pleaded guilty to driving when the proportion of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol – the main psychoactive component of cannabis – in his blood was four point nine micrograms per litre.
The legal limit for is two micrograms.
The 37-year-old committed the offence in a Vauxhall Astra on Broomhill Road on September 30 last year.
Representing himself at Greenock Sheriff Court, Munro told Sheriff James Varney: “My car is beneficial to me, but I understand it’s a disqualification anyway.”
Sheriff Varney fined Munro, of Burns Road, a total of £400 – which was reduced from £600 for the timing of his plea.
He also disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period of 12 months.
Munro was admonished and dismissed on a separate charge of being in possession of cannabis.
