A FUNDRAISING family are putting their best foot forward to raise cash for a worthy cancer charity in memory of their much-missed dad.
Siblings Chris, Maggie, Christina, James and Rachel Buchanan were left devastated in December 2021 when they lost their beloved dad Jim to a rare form of cancer.
Now they, along with their family friend Georgia, are set to pay tribute to their father by taking on a sponsored walk from the Cancer Research UK shop in Greenock Town Centre to the Spinnaker in Gourock and back next month to bring in money for Stand Up To Cancer.

The family also make a donation to Ardgowan Hospice on the anniversary of Jim’s passing each year.
Chris, who has been taking part in sponsored walks for the worthy cause for six years, told the Tele he was proud to still be paying tribute to his dad and supporting the vital charity.
He said: “Last year went really well and we got great weather for it.
“We raised a lot of money, it was about £1500. I think we’re almost at £5000 raised since we started doing this.
“This year we’re doing it again to support the campaign in October, I always do the walk in August while there’s good weather.
“We’re trying to raise as much as we can and beat our target.
“It’s been phenomenal beating our target each year.
“We’ve got our fingers crossed we get good weather for it.”
Chris is hoping this year’s donation drive will be his best yet and is already planning ways he can step up his fundraising activities in 2025.
He added: “Next year I’m going to aim to do the Kiltwalk as well to bring in even more money, it’s an important charity.
“This is my fifth year of doing it and it’s a nice way to remember my dad.”
