A TOP hip hop artist is back making moves in Inverclyde as she takes street dance out into the community.
Nadia Sewnauth brought her own 'Funkstyles' to the Beacon last year as an artist in residence with the Inverclyde Culture Collective.
But she returned this year as part of the Creative Minds Festival to inspire even more youngsters to express themselves through hip hop.
Now in the summer her dance school Funk Forever is in the arts centre during the holidays as well as going out to playschemes like Craigend and Branchton.
Nadia said: "It has been lovely to see some familiar faces returning from last year and it is good to build on their dance knowledge.
"We're doing hip hop dance again: popping, locking and breaking.
"The main aim is to teach the foundations of the dance styles.
"We hope they should have the skills and confidence to take part in a dance battle.
"We also work on rhythm through the music."
On top of her weekly class at the Beacon, Nadia is running dance sessions at the Craigend Resource Centre playscheme.
She previously worked on a collaboration with the Branchton Community Centre's youth club.
Youth worker Beth Kane said: "Nadia was great and the young ones loved taking part. It was part of the Beacon's Creative Minds, which we have been involved in in recent years.
"We had the artist Vikki Warnock before that. We get such a lot out of our partnerhip with the Beacon."
Nadia, who is from Dumbarton, uses her own experiences to empower women, mothers, young people and multi ethnicities through hip hop.
After starting her own dance school in recent years she has explored choreography and performance in different ways.
As part of the Creative Minds 2024 the Beacon Arts Centre worked with various partners in the community to showcase the talents across Inverclyde.
Hip hop artist Nadia Sewnauth and her Forever Funk sessions are at the Beacon run every Thursday until August 15.
Sessions are split by age group 5-7 years: 10.15-11am (10 spaces) and 8-12 years: 11.15-12pm (12 spaces)
It is £2 a session and can be booked on www.beaconartscentre.co.uk
