TRAFFIC restrictions are to be introduced on the A8 in Port Glasgow later this week as a series of resurfacing improvements gets under way.
Amey will begin works on the eastbound carriageway between the Comet roundabout and the Newark roundabout on Friday, August 9.
This will involve overnight closures between the Kingston roundabout and Newark roundabout between 8pm and 6am each night, with no access available to and from Anderson Street from the Comet roundabout after 10pm.
There will also be a daytime single lane closure from Saturday onwards.
The first phase of the works will see restrictions remain in place until August 17.
Phase two will involve structural reconstruction between the Newark roundabout and Comet roundabout.
The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am from August 17 until August 21.
Fore Street, Comet Road and the access to Gallagher Retail Park from the Comet roundabout will also be closed each night.

Phase three is due to begin on August 15, with the westbound carriageway between Woodhall roundabout and Newark roundabout set to subject to a full overnight closure.
Amey, which manages the trunk road network in the south-west of Scotland, says the scheme will benefit vehicles using this route every day by improving the condition of the road and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
The works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if the conditions are not favourable.
