DETECTIVES are urging anyone with information about hateful graffiti which was painted onto the side of a Port Glasgow housing block to come forward.
The local community reacted with outrage after an Islamophobic message appeared on the side of tenement flats on Fyfe Park Terrace last weekend.
The inflammatory slogan was daubed on the gable end of the building and could easily be seen by motorists on Glasgow Road as they passed.

Housing provider River Clyde Homes has now removed the offensive text and a police probe into the incident has been launched.
In a statement published online, an spokesperson for RCH said: “We have removed Islamophobic graffiti in Fyfe Park Terrace, Port Glasgow and will be back to repair damage to the wall finish.
“There is absolutely no place for hate like this in our community.
“We stand in solidarity with our Muslim neighbours and condemn this act of cowardice in the strongest possible terms.
“Anyone with information regarding the graffiti is encouraged to contact the police.”
The hateful message has already been condemned by community leaders and local politicians, such as Inverclyde MP Martin McCluskey, who told the Telegraph there was ‘no place for Islamophobia’ in the district.
Tommy Rodger, who is secretary of Port Glasgow West Community Council, described the act of vandalism as ‘far right thuggery’ and said it was not wanted in the town.
Inverclyde Muslim Centre praised the support it had received from elected representatives and the wider community against prejudice.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed detectives were looking into the incident and asked those with information to get in touch with police.
They added: “We were made aware of offensive graffiti in the Fyfe Park Road area of Port Glasgow on Monday, August 5, 2024.
“It has been removed and enquiries are at an early stage.
“Officers are carrying out patrols in the area and anyone with information or concerns should speak to officers or contact police via 101 quoting incident number 0933 of August 5.”
