ARDGOWAN Hospice has vowed to make its Family Fun Day ‘bigger and better’ as the event returns to Greenock following its successful launch last year.

The charity welcomed the community to Greenock Cricket Club’s Glenpark ground last August, raising a total of £6,000.

Fundraising staff hope to build on this success as they host a range of fun activities for families at the same venue on Sunday, August 25.

Tickets, which are on sale now, include entertainment from DJ Stephen Connon, Boogie Bugs sessions, and Beat The Goalie with Ardgowan Thistle FC.

They will also allow unlimited access to various inflatables, such as football darts, a ball pool and an activity assault course.

A number of popular children’s characters will be present at the fun day, including cartoon favourite Bluey and Ardgowan Hospice’s own mascot, Ace.

There will be a number of extra activities available at the ground on the day which can be paid for individually.

These include face painting, airbrush and glitter tattoos and an animal zoo.

Various market stallholders will attend the event, with food and drinks on offer from local vendors such as Tonino’s, Purdies Pantry and Downriver Coffee.

The fun day's bottle stall has also been sponsored by Bookers.

Leonna Gallacher, fundraising assistant at Ardgowan Hospice, said: “After gaining valuable insights from our inaugural event last year, we've made improvements to ensure this year's fun day is even bigger and better.

“Our goal is for everyone to have a fantastic time while supporting our efforts to raise crucial funds for individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

“With our daily running costs now exceeding £11,000, it is vital for events like our fun day to be successful in helping sustain the hospice's essential services.

“Thank you to all involved so far.”
