A CALMAC ferry has been towed to Greenock for repairs after a fire onboard caused its engine to fail.
MV Lord of the Isles had to be diverted to Armadale on Skye following the incident, which occurred while it was on the Mallaig to Lochboisdale, South Uist, route on Tuesday.
Ferry operator CalMac said the fire was extinguished quickly by the crew and no-one was hurt.
It has now been brought to Greenock’s James Watt Dock Marine to undergo maintenance.
Sailings between Mallaig and Lochboisdale have been cancelled for the rest of this week, with passengers offered alternative travel arrangements by ferry chiefs.
