A TALENTED teenager has teamed up with a much-loved charity and local football team to produce a four-part documentary.

Budding broadcaster Max Marner is creating the series about Greenock Juniors 2009s who are currently working in partnership with Man On Inverclyde’s football academy programme.

The 13-year-old’s latest project adds to a long list of interviews he has taped with famous faces such as former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill, TV presenter Jean Johansson, professional darts player Alan Soutar, and DJ George Bowie.

Max said: “Chris Paul from Man On reached out and asked if I wanted to document the stuff they were doing, covering the football but also the stuff that Man On do.

“I wanted to volunteer to help right away because Man On are such an amazing charity and they do so much good in Inverclyde.

“We went to Largs where they were staying for a residential training, they also had a game that I played in – although I wasn’t as good as I’d hoped!

“Then we went to their football therapy sessions as well as a couple of matches and training sessions.

“We’re going to put out four episodes, we already have the first one done.

“It’s the 2009s we’re following as well as covering the work of Man On.

“It’s been really good working on it and I’m glad it’s something we can highlight.”

Ambitious youngster Max has spent years honing the art of the interview in a bid to boost his credentials and set him on the right course for a career in broadcasting after he leaves school.

He says that his recent projects have been a departure from the interview format he is used to, but it’s a change he has enjoyed.

He added: “I’m not doing as many interviews as usual, I’m getting a lot of background footage and wee interviews to document their experiences.

“I’ve enjoyed doing it. I’d love to go on and do something like this professionally somewhere, like on the radio or the TV industry.

“But volunteering is great too, once you start you can’t stop.

“Recently I’ve started at Clyde Coast Radio, we’re two shows in now and it’s been great.

“I’ve also interviewed Reece McEwan, the MMA fighter, which was brilliant.

“Things are going really well at the moment, and I’m really excited to have so many different things on the go.”
