EXCITED Greenock youngsters began a whole new chapter of their lives today (Friday) when they officially started school.

All Saints Primary welcomed 48 pupils into primary one as they took their first steps on a journey that will be full of learning, making friends, and having fun.

The boys and girls all looked very smart in their uniforms, and were full of smiles as they waved goodbye to their families and headed into the classroom.

The youngsters have been in the school one day a week since Easter as part of the transition process, which helped them get comfortable in their new environment.

"We want to build relationships and build links in our community, help the children be the best that they can be, and give them the best possible start in life.

"We will always make sure we do everything we do is the best for children and their families."
