HEAVY rain and strong winds are forecast for Inverclyde later this week - with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for the area.
A band of rain is expected to move into parts of Scotland from the southwest on Wednesday morning, bringing bad weather and potential disruption for locals.
The yellow alert will be in place from 9am on Wednesday, August 21 until 3pm on Thursday, August 22.
The Met Office says around 75-100mm of rain is expected over the course of Wednesday and Thursday for some places, with the main bulk of the rain falling with a 24-hour period.
This will be accompanied by strong south-westerly winds which could reach speeds of between 50 to 60 mph.
A Met Office spokesperson added: "With spring tides expected, this could also lead to some potentially dangerous conditions on the coast, with spray and wave overtopping.
"Peak winds are expected during Wednesday evening.
"Winds will ease through Thursday, along with a gradual clearance of the rain by the end of the day."
