A GREENOCK assault accused is to stand trial next month charged with pulling a man from a vehicle and attacking him to his severe injury.

Prosecutors claim that Alan Williams grabbed the alleged victim by the body and pulled him from a vehicle at Caledonia Gardens in Gourock on January 3, last year.

It is alleged that Williams, 63, caused the man to fall to the ground, before standing on his feet and kicking him on the body to his severe injury and impairment.

Williams, who was not in court for the latest calling of his case on Tuesday, is due to face a summary trial on September 18.
