A GOUROCK man who is currently behind bars is set to face a trial next month for an alleged shoplifting offence in Greenock.
David Clarke is accused of stealing a quantity of electrical items from the Tesco supermarket on Dalrymple Street on March 9.
The 45-year-old, of Cardwell Road, did not appear for a hearing on Tuesday, with lawyer Aidan Gallagher telling the court that his client was in custody serving a sentence and had not been brought from prison.
Sheriff Sean Lynch continued the case to a trial on September 11.
