THE final phase of resurfacing works on the A8 in Port Glasgow will get under way this weekend – with a stretch of the road set to shut for almost a week.
The westbound carriageway of the route, between the Woodhall and Newark roundabouts, will be closed from 8pm on Sunday until 6am next Saturday, August 31.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, has been carrying out improvement works on the road since the beginning of the month over three stages.
For the latest phase, traffic will be diverted along Glasgow Road and past Clune Park to Newark Roundabout.
There will be an overnight lane closure on Woodhall Roundabout, and overnight temporary traffic lights on the Glasgow Road eastbound approach to Woodhall Roundabout.
Access to the industrial units in Kelburn Business Park will be via Parklea Road under temporary traffic lights.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.
