A TRIAL is set to go ahead next month for a Greenock man charged with making derogatory remarks towards his former partner and threatening her with violence.

Daniel Donald is accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm on June 19 this year.

It is claimed that Donald, 27, called his ex from his Nicol Drive home and uttered threats of violence and derogatory remarks.

According to the Crown, the alleged offence was aggravated by prejudice relating to disability and by involving abuse of his ex-partner.

Donald was allegedly subject to bail conditions at the time.

He denied the allegation through lawyer Paul Cook during a brief hearing at the town's sheriff court.

The case was continued to a trial on September 23.
