AN INVERKIP nursery has received positive ratings across the board after a recent visit from inspectors.

Happitots, run by Thrive Childcare and Education, was graded as ‘good’ in each of the four criteria assessed by Care Inspectorate officials earlier this summer.

The facility, on the village’s Main Street, had 69 children registered at the time of the inspection in July, and a watchdog report found that the youngsters ‘experienced kind and compassionate care’ at the service.

The report said: “Children were happy, settled and approached staff for comfort, reassurance and cuddles.

“As a result of staff's nurturing approach, children felt valued, safe and secure.”

The report added: “Staff sat with children and chatted meaningfully about their day while role modelling positive eating habits.

“The calm environment supported children to develop life skills.”

The ‘welcoming’ environment at the nursery was praised, along with the new management team that demonstrated a ‘positive attitude towards change and improvement’.

Previous areas for improvement identified by the Care Inspectorate were successfully met within the timescales.

The Inverkip nursery is one of two Inverclyde services operated by Thrive alongside Greenock Happitots on Pottery Street, with a further site in Erskine in Renfrewshire.
