AN INVERCLYDE pipe band welcomed a ‘special visitor’ on their journey to Cowal Gathering over the weekend.
Lower Clyde Pipes and Drums were joined by Greenock actor Martin Compston, who travelled to the event in Dunoon on the band’s bus.
Martin served as chieftain at the Highland games, which celebrated its 130th anniversary this year.
He returned to the role for a second time, having first been selected as chieftain in 2015.
The Line of Duty star said it was ‘an absolute privilege’ to be asked back.
More than a thousand competitors took part in this year’s Gathering – including Lower Clyde’s grade 3B and 4B bands.
As the competitive season draws to a close, the band is keen to recruit new pipers as it looks to 2025.
Those interested in joining are asked to contact Lower Clyde Pipes and Drums on Facebook.
