POLICE officers in Inverclyde recently hosted a workshop to highlight the warning signs of cannabis cultivations and cuckooing.
The event was attended by members of local housing associations, Inverclyde Council’s ASIST and the area's warden team.
'Cuckooing' is the name given to the practice of taking over a person's home and using the property for the purposes of exploitation, for example through the dealing, storing or cultivating of drugs, for sex work, or to store weapons or the proceeds of crime.
Those who took part in the event had the chance to share their own experiences, as well as discussing best practice within their respective services.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde said: “The strong working relationship between the police, local authority and housing associations within Inverclyde is something we are proud of and allows the best level of service to be provided to the members of the Inverclyde community.”
