THE world’s last remaining ocean liner Queen Mary 2 is set to visit Greenock later this week for the first time in nearly a decade.
Spanning more than 1,100 feet and with a capacity of almost 2,700 passengers, the liner is the flagship of Cunard’s four-vessel fleet, which also includes the Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Anne vessels.
The 150,000 tonne Queen Mary 2 launched 20 years ago and regularly embarks on cross-continent sailings to America – last stopping off in Inverclyde in 2015.
She will be one of the final arrivals of the busy summer season at Greenock Ocean Terminal when she docks on Thursday as part of a 12-day British Isles cruise.
When the Queen Mary 2 last visited the town, thousands flocked to the Esplanade with a fireworks display held as she departed at night.
Sister vessel Queen Anne visited Ocean Terminal twice this year, on June 1 and July 26.
