A new wine bar is set to open in Kilmacolm after councillors gave plans the green light.
Proposals to create a new bar in a former retail unit was passed unanimously at a meeting of the planning board.
The new business will be located in Octavia Buildings in Bridge of Weir Road and has overwhelming support from the community.
Councillor Stephen McCabe said that he was aware of this support for the application in the village and he couldn't see any reason to refuse the application.
However he was concerned about the location at Kilmacolm which is a busy junction and the 'potential risks' that may come from that.
He said: "Although there are opportunities to cross further down, people tend to cross the road diagonally and across."
There was massive support in the community for the wine bar with 106 representations supporting the business.
However six objections were raised including accessibility, lack of parking, noise levels, littering, over provision, and ant-social behaviour.
Councillor John Crowther added that the positives outweighed the negatives and he was happy for the new venture to go ahead.
He said: "There's a lot of positives with this application. It will revive and empty shop and bring it into use.
"It will help employment locally and there is a social aspect to this.
"There is a lack of public transport in the area, so there is a shop local aspect of it. Former Kilmacolm residents can come back to the village to meet family for social evenings.
"The negatives are the location, albeit it is central but it is a busy road and a lot of traffic which are the downsides but there will also be the financial spin-off for other retail units in the area."
Councillor Kirsty Law said that she also supported the wine bar.
She said: "It's good that the local community has supported the wine bar and the people who are running it."
This comes after Carriages, the only and existing pub in the village, closed last months due to 'current' trading conditions.
