PLANS have been revealed for a residential development with 17 new homes to be built in the east end of Greenock.

An application has been submitted to Inverclyde Council by Clydeway Contracts for the construction of eight three-bedroom houses and a three-storey block of flats featuring nine apartments.

The vacant plot of land on Renton Road was previously the subject of a proposal for 10 two-storey, semi-detached homes, however, that bid was withdrawn earlier this year.

A design statement uploaded alongside the plans states: “The intent is to continue the streetscape along this vacant gap site on Renton Road, with modern newbuild houses of a traditional style which meets the character of the surrounding area while prioritizing appropriate design and density.

“For the eight houses proposed, they provide ground floor living, kitchen dining, bathroom, and three-bed accommodation on the first floor and bathroom.

“The single three-storey flat block contains nine apartments in a mix of one-three bed arrangements, with balconies overlooking the urban area to the river Clyde.”

Local authority planning officers are currently considering the proposal.
