A local radio club is gearing up for the annual World Scout Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and Internet (JOTI) event.

The District Radio Club will participate in the event using the special sign GB0GDS.

The programme will take place at Scout HQ on October 19, from 10am to 4pm, and October 20, from 9am to 1pm.

The jamboree is said to be the largest scouting event of the year, attracting more than two million scouts worldwide.

The radio club is offering one-hour time slots, which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Groups wishing to participate must be accompanied by a leader with a valid first aid qualification.

For bookings, interested parties can contact the radio club at mm0tsg@gmail.com.

In a separate venture, the 42nd Scout Group is fundraising for a summer adventure in Norway.

David, a trustee of the group, recently completed the Kilmacolm Half Marathon to raise funds.

Meanwhile, Mo, the lead scout volunteer, and Cub Akela Helen are set to walk the 21 miles of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk on September 15.

They have set up a JustGiving page for anyone wishing to support their cause, which can be found at https://tinyurl.com/3nnau7r8.
