A 63-YEAR-OLD man has died at the scene of an incident in Greenock's east end that sparked a major emergency response last night.
Officers rushed to Auchmountain Glen following reports of concern for a person around 7pm on Tuesday.
Multiple fire crews and ambulances also attended the incident on the town's Aberfoyle Road.
Police have now confirmed that the man died at the scene.
They say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.15pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, officers were called to a report of concern for a person at Auchmountain Glen, Greenock.
"Emergency services attended, however the 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances."
Part of the area was sealed off while the response was ongoing in the beauty spot which is popular with walkers.
A report on the incident will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
The Telegraph has contacted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service for further comment.
