PEOPLE in Inverclyde who have Parkinson's are being encouraged to get involved in new groups and get active by a leading charity.

Parkinson's UK is inviting people with the condition, their relatives, carers and anyone with connections to be part of a series of new physical activity focus groups.

The aim is to help with the benefits of physical activity and exercise for people living with the condition.

Regular vigorous or high intensity activities are shown to improve muscle and bone strength of people with Parkinsons, as well as improving flexibility and joint mobility, improving balance and reducing the risk of falls, boosting energy and ensuring better sleep, as well as cutting the risk of other health problems.

Physical activity can also boost the mental wellbeing of people with the condition.

You can find out how to apply by completing an expression of interest form at bit.ly/PhysicalActivityResources.

The deadline for responses is Friday, September 20 and Parkinson's UK will contact chosen participants shortly after the closing date.

The consultations with the community will help Parkinson’s UK to develop a new library of resources and information about the best ways to be active with the condition.
