We've taken a look at the top ten highest-rated eateries in the area, based on Tripadvisor reviews:
1. Waterwheel, Port Glasgow
Port Glasgow’s Waterwheel tops the list, with customers making mention of both its food offering and friendly staff.
Of the 722 reviews left on Tripadvisor, 424 rated the restaurant as ‘excellent’.
A further 118 described it as ‘very good’.
2. Tonino’s, Greenock
Tonino’s on Greenock’s Grey Place followed close behind with an overall four-and-a-half star rating.
The pizzeria has been praised for its ‘quality’ produce at ‘reasonable prices’, with one reviewer describing it as a ‘little gem’.
3. The Exchange, Greenock
Third place goes to The Exchange on Ann Street in Greenock.
The eatery serves food daily from 10am, with a focus on using fresh local produce.
More than half of customers who reviewed The Exchange on Tripadvisor rated it as ‘excellent’, with many having high praise for its service and value for money.
4. Tail O’ The Bank, Greenock
The Tail O’ The Bank features on the list in fourth place.
The family-friendly pub sits on the River Clyde, enjoying views of Victoria Harbour and East India Harbour.
Customers made mention of ‘friendly’ staff and a ‘great dining experience’ within their reviews.
5. The Albany, Greenock
Greenock’s Albany comes in at fifth on the list with more than 200 ‘excellent’ reviews.
Its varied selection of food and ‘huge’ portions were highlighted in several reviews.
6. McCaskie’s, Wemyss Bay
Wemyss Bay’s McCaskie's features in sixth place thanks to its four-and-a-half star food and service.
The café is an extension of the award-winning butchers, with beef forming an ‘important part’ of its menu.
One Tripadvisor user said the food was of a ‘very high standard’, with another describing it as ‘simply exquisite’.
7. Taj Mahal, Gourock
Gourock’s Taj Mahal is the town’s top-rated restaurant on Tripadvisor.
Its food, service, value and atmosphere have all achieved four-star ratings on the site.
In their reviews, customers praised Taj Mahal’s ‘very reasonable prices’ and ‘wide variety of dishes’.
8. Delhi Deluxe, Greenock
Greenock’s Delhi Deluxe has enjoyed plenty of praise from customers in Tripadvisor reviews, with two thirds of reviews describing the restaurant as ‘excellent’.
One user said the service was ‘second to none’, with its dishes being described as ‘tremendous’.
The restaurant’s wide range of vegan offerings have also been praised.
9. Café Continental, Gourock
Café Continental is the second Gourock venue to feature on the list.
As well as praising its ‘seriously tasty’ food, many reviews referred to the fantastic views it offers of the Clyde.
10. Priya’s Palace, Greenock
Priya’s Palace, located on Roberston Street in Greenock, rounds off the top ten.
More than 200 customers described the Indian restaurant as ‘excellent', with another 63 offering ‘very good’ ratings.
Several users highlighted it as being a great spot for family outings.
