POLICE say a report of a suspected break-in in Greenock is not being linked to the discovery of a man’s body nearby later the same day.
Officers investigated a report of a “possible break-in” at an address in Dalrymple Street at around 3.35am on Tuesday.
But Police Scotland says no criminality has been established around the reports and no complaint has been made.
As reported previously by the Tele, a man was found dead after police were called to Westburn Buildings, on Dalrymple Street, shortly after 11am on September 17.
But Police Scotland told the Tele the two incidents are being treated separately.
A spokesperson said: "Around 3.35am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, we received a report of a possible break-in at a flat in Dalrymple Street, Greenock.
“Officers attended and carried out enquiries; however, no complaint has been made or criminality established.”
