A SON whose mother spent her final days at Ardgowan Hospice has repaid the charity's staff for their kindness by raising thousands for the worthy local cause.

Craig Ross recently took part in a gruelling fundraising challenge in honour of his mum Carole Anne, who passed away on December 27, 2022, just seven weeks after she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer.

The 39-year-old participated in a triathlon event at Rouken Glen in Giffnock on the day that would have been his parents' 45th wedding anniversary and raised £2,530.

He told the Telegraph he and his father were full of admiration for the way staff at the hospice had treated his mother during her end of life care and that he had been inspired to pay them back.

He joined his dad Ian at the hospice on Thursday to hand over a cheque to staff.
