OFFICIALS have investigated online claims that a camera was discovered in public toilets in Inverclyde – but have found no evidence to support the rumour.
Police say they are probing a report earlier this week which claimed that a camera had been found in the conveniences in Inverkip.
In a now-deleted social media post seen by the Telegraph, a member of the public claimed online they had found a camera attached to the bottom of a door frame at the women’s public toilets in the village.
Inverclyde Council confirmed to the Telegraph that they had launched their own investigation into the claims.
They said: "We are aware of rumours circulating on social media, but the toilets have been checked thoroughly and we have found no device or any evidence to support these rumours."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Wednesday, 18 September, 2024, officers received a report of a camera found at public toilets in Inverkip.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
