COUNCIL bosses are hoping to repeat the success of a water safety event in Gourock by holding the same initiative next year.

Police Scotland's Preventions and Interventions Team, SFRS, Water Safety Scotland and Greenock and District Sea Cadets hosted the free event at Gourock Outdoor Pool on July 18.

Councillor John Crowther, speaking at a meeting of InVerclyde Council's police and fire scrutiny panel, heaped praise on the organisers of the event, and asked if it would run again in the summer of 2025.

Hugh Scott, service manager with the local authority's community learning and development team, didn't rule the possibility out, saying: "Anything is possible."
