GREENOCK Esplanade will be closed next week to allow necessary work to be carried out by Scottish Water.

The road will close for one day, which will see traffic restrictions imposed on road users on the Esplanade and surrounding streets as part of a number of works being carried out across Inverclyde and Kilmacolm over the course of the next week, with a number of diversions to be put in place.

The first of a number of works will see a street located close to West College Scotland in Greenock be imposed with traffic restrictions for two days next week whilst cleaning works are carried out.

No waiting, loading or unloading will be allowed on Kelly Street, from the junctions of Eldon Street onto the Esplanade and from Margaret Street to Number 8 Esplanade, from 8am on Monday September 23 until 5pm on Wednesday September 25 for street cleaning.

Scottish Water ironwork repairs will see traffic unable to wait, load or unload near to Greenock Esplanade from 9.00am-5.00pm on Wednesday September 25.

The proposed works will see sections of Fox Street and Forsyth Street, at the Eldon Street and Margaret Street junctions, placed under the restrictions, as well as from 3 Forsyth Street to the junction with Esplanade.

The ironworks taking place will mean that Esplanade is shut for road users on September 25 from 9am until 5pm before re-opening for the rest of the week.

A diversion will be put in place near to Kilmacolm Primary School from Tuesday, September 24 in order for carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out.

The diversion will take traffic down Myreton Avenue, Rannoch Road and back onto Belmont Road, with a section of Belmont Road closed until Thursday September 26.
