ONE of Inverclyde's care homes has been playing all the big hits to keep residents entertained and on the dance floor.
Merino Care Home in Greenock, which was highly rated in a recent inspection report, has teamed up with popular local entertainer Billy Johstone.
Together they put on an afternoon of music in the lounge, one of many activities taking place throughout the week.
Activities co-ordinators Marilyn Kane and Liz Reid pull out all the tops to ensure that those living in Merino Court have a five star experience.
Marilyn, who has worked in Merino Court for 22 years, said: "I absolutely love it in here. That'ss why I have stayed so long.
"I started as a domestic, then moved into care support, and now we do activities.
"It is great working one to one with the residents and keeping everyone entertained.
"Billy is so popular and the residents absolutely love it when he comes in. He has been coming and playing all their favourites since we started everything back up again after Covid.
"He plays all their favourite songs."
Throughout the week there are cooking classes for residents as well as the chance to move gently with tai chi, one to one chair exercises to prevent falls, separate exercise sessions for residents unable to leave their beds, and pamper sessions.
Joining the staff on the dance floor was resident Jean Gray who is a big music fan.
Marilyn added: "Jean absolutely loves dancing. You can't keep her off the floor. It is great to see them having so much fun."
This is one of the many events Merino have put on for residents in recent months including 80th anniversary D-Day celebrations, a summer Olympics.
The Tele reported earlier this year that the Greenock care home had been praised for delivering high quality levels of support and care.
Next up is the Halloween celebrations which are set to get some spooky goings on at Merino Court.
