A BUSY section of road in Inverkip has been shut following a multi-car crash at an accident blackspot this evening (Wednesday).

Emergency services are in attendance at the junction of the A78 and Inverkip's Main Street after a nearby crash involving multiple vehicles.

Traffic is being diverted through the village along Main Street, with the westbound carriageway currently shut. 

(Image: George Munro) The junction has been notorious in recent years as a hotspot for accidents. 

A white car was spotted badly damaged at the scene and medics were working to assist those involved in the incident. 

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
