SPECSAVERS look set to open a new store in a vacant unit at Port Glasgow’s retail park.
The optical retail chain has applied for permission for signage and air conditioning equipment at the 5,000 square foot unit at the town's Gallagher Shopping Park.
The unit is located between the Superdrug and Card Factory outlets.
A design and access statement submitted alongside a formal planning application to Inverclyde Council says that the seven air conditioning units proposed for the rear of the unit will only be operational during working hours, which are stated to be between 8am and 6.30pm.
The application also says pedestrian and vehicle access will be unchanged.
The proposed sign on the front of the unit measures 4.7 metres by 3.4 metres and will include a steel frame and aluminium cladding.
The Tele understands that Specsavers' existing store at the Oak Mall, Greenock will remain open.
To view the background papers on the applications, go to planning.inverclyde.gov.uk and search for the application code 24/0209/IC for the air conditioning units and 24/0006/CA for the illuminated signage.
